Venture Building
A firm that only advises is guessing in public. The Build Atlas exists because the firm tests its theses with its own hands first.
All capabilitiesOur approach
Our perspective.
Zero-to-one ventures co-built with founders, and built solo when a thesis deserves to exist, with shared risk and an operating spine from day one.
Building is the firm’s laboratory: every venture the firm builds is a thesis about a market, tested with the firm’s own effort. When the firm advises on GTM, deal flow, or AI systems, the advice is downstream of machinery it has built and broken privately first.
The shared risk is written into the papers: a co-build is priced as fee plus equity in the outcome, a stake the firm can lose, with the deadlock terms named before the build starts. Who holds the deciding vote, and what buys the other side out, is settled while everyone still likes each other.
Common challenges
The challenges we help address.
Venture theater
“Venture studio” as a rebrand of an agency: builds billed by the hour, no shared risk, no opinion strong enough to lose money on.
Zero-to-one without a spine
Product built before the operating system that sells, measures, and improves it. The launch happens; the compounding never starts.
The advisor’s distance
Advice given from a position where being wrong costs nothing.
How we work
How the engagement runs.
- Step 1
Diagnose
The thesis interrogated: what must be true of the market, and what is the cheapest system that tests it.
- Step 2
Architect
Venture architecture: the product, the GTM machine, and the operating spine designed as one system.
- Step 3
Build
The build itself: working software, first users, first revenue mechanics, with the firm’s hands on the tools.
- Step 4
Operate
The venture run on its own cadence: instrumentation live, thesis revised by evidence, scale earned rather than assumed.
Deliverables
What the work produces.
- Venture thesis & payoff model
- Decide whether the venture deserves to exist, on stated assumptions.
- GTM & operating architecture
- Design how the venture sells and runs before the first hire.
- Working system
- Test the thesis against a live system the firm carries risk in.
Evidence
From the case studies.
